DIY Art and Craft Activities for Kid’s Birthday Parties

June 30, 2020

One of the more difficult things about planning a kid’s birthday party is deciding what activities to do. Considering that many parents may be more inclined to host stay-at-home birthdays during this time until their child’s favorite indoor playgrounds open up again, it will be a good idea to occupy your child’s time with more productive activities.

Having to stay at home all the time can be a challenge for many kids, especially when their birthdays are coming up. But there are always things you can do to bring back some fun and creativity. Why not make some arts and crafts with your child?

In today’s blog, we share some ideas for simple yet fun arts and crafts that can be done at your kid’s birthday party:

1. Handmade Jewelry

Much of the materials for child-safe jewelry can be bought online or in specialty stores, such as beads, elastic bands, charms, and more. It’s a simple task of measuring the right amount of elastic or wire for a bracelet or necklace, and then threading the beads or charms through. Your child can make a highly personalized jewelry item for themselves that they’ll treasure forever!

2. Printings

A really fun arts and crafts activity is printing, and the best thing about it is that it is incredibly easy. All you need is some paper, printing ink, cards, and Styrofoam sheets/blocks, which can all be bought for cheap at a dollar store. Have your child make their design on paper first, and then trace that design into the Styrofoam, effectively carving it in and making indents. Then, cover the surface of the Styrofoam in ink and print in on your chosen card!

3. Scrapbook

Indeed, a kid’s birthday party is a great occasion to remember old memories and make new ones. Scrapbooking is an ideal activity that encompasses both of this. Assemble a collection of photos from past birthday parties, or you can even get your child to select their favorite photos of themselves, their friends, and of your family. Then, find a suitable scrapbook, which can be bought at stationery, and decorate it with all the pictures! You can use glitter pens, markers, cut-out stickers, stamps, and more to embellish your scrapbook. The best thing about this is that you can keep using this item for every birthday to come!

As you can see, a kid’s birthday party doesn’t have to be dull just because it’s being held at home. There are many other arts and crafts activities you can do as well to bond with your child and hone their creativity. Just remember to keep things safe and clean, and your child is sure to have a blast.
